just finished reading...

"...And with love there are now rules... The heart decides, and what it decides is all that really matters...for in every love lies the seed of our growth" (vi).

"...joyful...no fear of loss. True love is an act of total surrender. This book is about the importance of that surrender... To love is to be in communion with the other and to discover in that other the spark of God" (vii).
IT was lovely, and powerful, and made me feel hopeful and sad at the same time.

"That is why I write - to try to turn sadness into longing, solitude into remembrance...Only then...will the water extinguish what the flames have written. All love stories are the same" (2).

"As I listened to what he was saying - I felt myself growing closer to him - I was more and more convinced that he was right: there are moments when you have to take a risk, to do crazy things" (25).

"The more God asks us to participate in His mysteries, the more disoriented we become, because He asks us constantly to follow our dreams and our hearts. And that's difficult to do when we are living in a different way.

"Finally we discover, to our surprise, that God wants us to be happy, because He is the father... In order to have a spiritual life... All you have to do is have faith and accept God. From then on, each of us becomes a part of His path. We become a vehicle for His miracles" (120).

They are all... moments of forever

Moment of Fovever by Willie Nelson

Was it wonderful for you
Was it holy as it was for me
Did you feel the hand of destiny
That was guiding us together

You were young enough to dream
And I was old enough to learn something new
I'm so glad I got to dance with you
For a moment of forever

Sometimes when you're cryin you're happy
And sometimes you're just cryin
I know I know

And come whatever happens now

Ain't it nice to know that dreams still come true
I'm so glad that I was close to you
for a moment of forever

Sometimes when you're cryin you're happy
And sometimes you're just cryin
I know I know

And come whatever happens now
Ain't nice to know that dreams still come true
I'm so glad that I was close to you
For a moment of forever

Being Peace

"If you do not give right attention to the one you love, it is a kind of killing. When you are in the car together, if you are lost in your thoughts, assuming you already know everything about her, she will slowly die." ~ THICH NHAT HANH, Being Peace
That is why I write—to try to turn sadness into longing, solitude into remembrance. So that when I finish telling myself the story... Only then... will the water extinguish what the flames have written. All love stories are the same.

anything for my girl...

Posted this on facebook this week with the caption: "Have you seen us? LOL Elizabeth and I were going through a box of my old stuff last night, trying to find pics of me when I was the age she is now. She's decided I was a geek, a jock AND a nerd. lol"

I would do ANYthing for Elizabeth, but this was actually fun. And now I am taking the afternoon off so I can BE with her and drive her to a riding lesson about an hour away. More later... maybe :)

a little late today...

Random bits that crossed my path, and I liked, today... While having my second cup of coffee and reading Partnering with Nature: The Wild Path to Reconnecting with the Earth, for just a few minutes between the dropping off of Elizabeth at school and being at work by 8am: "...tiny hummingbirds hovered their iridescent colors mercurially changing in the glinting sunshine" (4). It is 4pm and I just remembered I had not hit publish yet today :) Perhaps it is because ...

My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends--
It gives a lovely light!

Saturday morning....

As if I needed it, further proof that when we make plans, God laughs.... and this is just a little one. Elizabeth was sick last weekend with high fever, tired, aches. Went back to school Tuesday. Sick again Wednesday after school. Sore throat that hurts "as bad as when [she] broke her arm." :( So, off to the doctor yesterday for flu and strep tests, both negative. We just manage the pain with warm water baking soda gargle, pain meds and rest... Dave offered to let stay with me, which of course is fine with me. So... rainy Saturday morning with my girl and our pets...

My Inspiration...

I had forgotten about this great picture I took of Elizabeth while visiting CT/RI last summer and "found" it on my old phone when I went to donate it. I posted it on facebook with the following caption: "Elizabeth often inspires me to be the best me I can be...". I received this wonderful response: "She has inspired you well, because you are a pretty terriffic you!" Of course, that's not why I posted it, but it did make me feel good about the progress I've made. The picture is just SO inspiring that I had to share with others :)

Feb 3 fb grabs...
Thich Nhat Hanh Listen to each other. Be there for each other. Our practice for the new year.

Perhaps what does matter...

Perhaps what matters is that I get it. I am continuing to discover more about myself all the time and am on my own path of authenticity, no one else's, and it finally doesn't matter if anyone else "get's it".

For me, it's nice that some people closest to me "get me," but it is not a prerequisite to my happiness and sense of contentment. God wants us to be happy and to KNOW, at the core of our being, that that is ALL He expects of us. Everything else is man made, and ephemeral.

I will continue to "write my book" - in quotes because what I am really doing is going back through what has already been written, but with new eyes and smiling. I made it! I made it through to the other side and now my only job is to live each day to it's fullest and be the best me I can be! :)

I would have included favorite quotes from the books I've recently finished, but it's past my bedtime and I've already passed them on to their next reader. They were these Paulo Coelho books: Brida, The Witch of Portobello, The Zahir, and Eleven Minutes, and I sent at least two of them up to Meaghan Minogue as she recently moved to Vermont. Up until the last few months, I'd only ever heard of Coelho's The Alchemist, so it has been wonderful to discover these and others that are so different from that first encounter, but have had a profound effect, having come into my life at just this time.
