When we see clearly, the great teachings are the same.
What can ever be lost? What can be attained?
If we attain something, it was there from the beginning of time.
If we lose something, it is hiding somewhere near us.” ~ Ryōkan (see "R" below)

Ryōkan is remembered for his poetry and calligraphy, which present the essence of Zen life. Ryōkan lived a very simple, pure life, and stories about his kindness and generosity abound. However, even though he lived his simple and pure life, he also displayed characteristics that under normal circumstances would be out of line for a normal monk. source

Uplifted Life shared a quote on Facebook: Understanding like vs. love : "When you like a flower, you just pluck it. But when you love a flower , you water it daily." Attributed to the Buddha or Google, does that part even matter?

Be a trusworthy birdhouse...

I started reading Endless Practice by Mark Nepo's about two years ago.
I "finished"? reading (and listening to it on Audible) this week.
Today I passed it on to Julie.
My hope is that she, too, will find solace in its pages,
and that all my highlighting, underlining, and notes will enhance her enjoyment,
rather than distract and detract.

My plan now is to give many of my books wings (or feet). After all,
what is the use of keeping them closed and tucked between others on my shelves?

Fly! Be free!!

Be still. Be true. Be pure. Be a Blessing. Be kind. "Being kind restores our authenticity and openness. We become a conduit through which life-force flows." p. 256 Endless Practice

Zaber, Abbie: A Growing Gardner - having finished a book I started more than a year ago, I've decided to go back to one I've not read in years, and begin again, because that is actually what is always next. Another day, another chance to begin again. A "do over" if you will, each and every day... so from Z to A I go again...
